The Casino had no pre-Gibson equivalent, and corresponds to the Gibson ES-330 launched the previous year, having the same dimensions and construction, but with different headstock shape and (sometimes) tailpiece. The Epiphone range of the 1960s consisted of several guitars based on the pre-Gibson Stathopoulos-era guitars, and a number closely resembling the Gibson guitars of the same time all were produced in the same factory in Kalamazoo, MI, USA. These Casinos have a worthy place in the electric guitar cannon and this fine example would make a fanatic addition to any collection.Finishes Shaded/Sunburst, Royal Tan, Cherry from 1967 Plugged in the guitar runs the gamut from warm neck pickup to a more honky, biting bridge pickup tone. The guitar comes with its correct grey hardshell case with blue lining.Īcoustically this guitar has a pleasantly warm tone that certainly tips the hat to Gibson’s archtop heritage. Pots date 65 (week obscured by solder) and week 36 of 64 which puts this guitar at the beginning of 1965 The tuners are slightly later, nickel double line Kluson.Įlectrically everything is original and works and sounds a real treat. The plastics are in great shape though the pickguard does droop slightly. The hardware shows some discoloration and some very slight pitting. This has a 42mm nut width which is a transitional feature on these guitars. The headstock is in good shape with a few minor chips and best part of all. The neck is in superb condition with almost no wear, the original frets have plenty of life left in them. The colour has faded a little but again this is not too extensive.

There are no real signs of any damage anywhere, the odd minor knock but nothing noticeable.

Classic royal tan finish that's instantly recognisable, setting it apart from its Gibson cousin.
